Common Mistakes to Avoid

Assuming a motor that still starts and runs is undamaged.
Delaying professional assessment while "seeing how it goes" over the following days.
Cleaning or drying equipment before it has been documented.
Writing off equipment as scrap based on visual appearance alone.

Evidence Preservation

Photograph the visible water line and extent of exposure on each affected asset.
Note when the flooding was discovered and, if known, how long the equipment was submerged.
Keep any removed or obviously damaged components available for inspection rather than discarding them.
